Mumbai Metro: Trial Run

After much haggling with launch dates, the Mumbai Metro finally arrived on Maharashtra Day. So what if it took more than five years to build a 11.5km line. Better late than never, I say!

Say goodbye to traffic troubles (hopefully) and ride on the spanking new Mumbai Metro. The 11.4 km elevated tracks will connect the western suburb of Versova to the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar through Andheri. A total 12 stations on route and the distance, which once took nearly an hour and a half by road, will now be covered in just 21 minutes.

Here's What to Expect:
  • A train every three-and-a-half minutes.
  • A daily jostle with about six lakh passengers.
  • Travel 12 stations through Andheri & Ghatkpar.
  • Prepare to shell out anything between Rs.6 to Rs.15, depending on the distance.

And there's more!
"We will also launch the country's first monorail; in fact, projects worth Rs.5000 crore will be inaugurated this year," Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said. Well, we're waiting!
